This website is all about finding that ever-elusive “Plan B. I am lucky enough to be employed full time as a Ship Agent, based in the vibrant garden city state of Singapore. However, I am mindful of the fact that one day, the last vessel will have weighed anchor and it will be time to do something else. When I find what that something is, I will share it with others, but one way or the other, it will probably include an element of writing.
Back in 2010, I completed my first novel, “A Lethal Legacy”. After a brief round of literary agents, which dragged up precisely zilch, I decided to delay the writing career and put that one in the bottom drawer, in favour of making something as a ship agent. I have not given up the idea of writing, but will take time penning the next novel.
In the meantime, I am a voracious reader of other people’s books and will use this site to air some unsolicited opinions of these. I will group them in descending order, according to my assessment of merit, under a “witty” set of headings, yet to be determined. I look forward to having almost as much fun passing summary judgement on other people’s books as I did creating mine. I will post opinions entirely of my own making and totally free of any external influence or commercial consideration. I will always be mindful of the enormous amount of work that every novel represents, yet I will hold writers to book for every cheap cliche, example of sloppy composition or painfully awkward plot device. I will focus on novels that are quite recent, on sale in paperback form and that appeal to me. My preferred genres are thrillers, comedies and certain biographies. I am going to have a blast!
